NFL Flick Quarterback HD Will Have You Throwing Like A Boss – iPad App Review

The official NFL season is only a month away. The preseason has already started. With all of this pigskin action so close, it is no wonder game developers are cranking out football-related apps like mad. NFL Flick Quarterback HD hands you the ball and lets you take your team to the championships in style.

Players start out by picking their team. Chose from all 32 NFL teams and have your name and number on your official team jersey. Players then begin with the “Basic Skills” level where they learn how to throw, dodge and manage the controls. The better you perform on this level, the more points you earn to unlock the next level, “Playmaker.”

To play the game, just swipe your finger across the screen in a flicking motion, similar to the game makers’ other flicking games like Flick Golf Extreme! HD. Players can also control the ball while it is in mid air by swiping in the direction they want to ball to go. This is helpful when you have to throw in strong wind.

On Playmaker, players must throw the ball to a teammate while various 300-pound obstacles are in the way. If your aim is good, your teammate will catch the ball and run for a touchdown. If you throw short or too high, the opposite team will intercept the ball and run for the goal on their end.

Players get three chances to miss a pass before the game is over. The more successful throws you make, the harder it gets. First, the wind starts to pick up. Then, there are more opponents on the field. Eventually, you’re dealing with a windy day, surrounded by the opposing team while linebackers are charging at you from all sides.

You earn extra points for perfect passes, distance, spin and spiral. Once your receiver makes it across the finish line, he does a little touchdown dance. The points you earn increase your experience on the field. You start out as a “Rookie” and move on to “Starting Quarterback,” and so on.

Once you’ve made it to Starting Quarterback, two more levels open up. Quick Fire requires you to make as many passes as possible in a limited amount of time. Each successful pass adds a few seconds to the clock. If you get sacked, you lose time.

The Trick Shot level is an exhibition level where players show off their throwing abilities by making it into a garbage can. When you succeed, the can is moved further and further away. Extra points are earned for style. The last level is Trick Shot XL, in which players must use their throwing strength to topple the garbage cans.

This game is just as fun as Full Fat’s other flick releases. The company is known for their high-quality graphics and well-designed games. NFL Flick Quarterback does not disappoint.

What I liked: The quality of the graphics is outstanding. Considering this is just a casual flick game, they went all-out to make it look like a fancy-pants football game.

What I didn’t like: The game crashed on me twice. This is not unusual with brand new games. I know the devs will fix the bug in an update as soon as they find it.

To buy or not to buy: If you are a fan of casual aiming games, you will really enjoy this game. You don’t have to be a football fan to throw a perfect season. The price is unbelievably cheap right now, too. Don’t let this one slip by.
