The Only Time Sticky isn’t a Bad Thing on your iPad – Caillou Stickers! – iPad App Review

Caillou StickersIf you want to use your iPad as an educational tool, the best way to begin is by finding apps that bring favorite characters to life. With Caillou’s Stickers! you can engage the imagination of your child by helping them to play with all of the important things in Caillou’s life, including his pets, friends, foods, toys and more.

The moment the authentic Caillou theme song started playing from my iPad (taken from the PBS television show), my three year old daughter ran into the room and her attention couldn’t be torn away from the app.

Begin using the app with a series of backgrounds like campground, bus stop, farm house, bedroom, picnic and birthday party and personalize them with over 100 stickers that can be dragged directly into each scene. Quite handily, the stickers can always be repositioned again and again as your child completes their scene (or even added again multiple times).

As your child places a sticker on the screen they will learn that each one has a corresponding sound effect, many of which present educational opportunities (as animals make their various sounds, for instance).

A little playing around showed me that the pinch-to-zoom functionality works nicely in this app — just in case your child wants to make each sticker larger or smaller!

What I liked: This app has a very simple user interface with controls that even younger children can understand: a picture of a house brings your child back to the home screen, a picture of a letter allows you to email your pictures to friends and family and a trash can lets you start your scene from the beginning.

What I didn’t like: I wish there were more stickers to choose from!

To buy or not to buy: If your child loves Caillou, this app is an absolute must-have.
