Outdoor Living Shouldn’t Have To Compromise Sound Quality, These Battery Powered Speaker Docks Are The Answer

Whether you’re relaxing by the poolside, on a picnic, or camping in the woods, you’ll probably want to listen to your tunes, or maybe even a podcast or two. Unfortunately, the iPad’s native speakers aren’t all that great for projecting sound. We’ve done some research and come up with a handful of the better battery powered speaker docks out there so that you can bring your sound system with you where ever you go, even on a raft in the middle of the ocean. Just make sure you pack extra batteries.

iHome- Portable Speaker System for iPad, iPhone and iPod ($99) This slim speaker dock features SRS TruBass sound enhancement and specially designed high-end speaker drivers. It is compatible with all three Apple devices because of its convenient docking port and charges them while playing your music. It runs on DC power with lithium batteries, or can be plugged into a wall outlet using an AC adapter. You can pick this portable speaker system up from Best Buy.

Altec Lansing Portable Speaker Dock for iPad ($65) This small-footprint speaker system holds your iPad firmly in place in either landscape or portrait mode and offers an array of viewing angles. It features two built-in speakers for high-quality sound. The device also charges your iPad while in the docking port. It comes with an AC adapter, but is also battery powered so you can take it with you, where ever you go. The Altec Lansing Portable Speaker Dock can be purchased from Target.

iMainGo XP Ultra-Portable Stereo Speaker and Protective Case ($110) The nice thing about the iMainGo Xp is that it doubles as a case and display. It really is more of a three-in-one device. You can protect your iPad, display it, and project sound from it. It features four high-output premium speakers, dual tuned bass and a digital amplifier for surprisingly good sound quality. The device includes its own, rechargeable lithium battery that promises six hours of playback between charges. It can be purchased from Fry’s Electronics.
