Stay in Shape, De-Stress and Look Great With These Yoga Apps

During the summer, the kids are home from school, there are parties to host, and events to attend. It’s not always easy to fit working out and staying healthy into an active schedule, but don’t worry – your iPad is here to help.

Yoga is as much mental as it is physical, which means you can turn working out into relaxation time. With one of these yoga apps and a few minutes each day, you’ll stay fit, happy, and healthy all year long.

Simply Yoga (Free) – If you’re not familiar with yoga and want to give it a try, this free app is a fantastic solution. With Simply Yoga, you can utilize level one 20, 40, and 60 minute workouts, so you can choose a time that fits perfectly into your day. The app features videos to demonstrate how to get into each different pose, and every routine includes detailed audio instructions. You’ll get more than 30 poses in this app and three predefined routines, which is a great start for beginners.

All-In Yoga HD: 300 Poses & Yoga Classes ($0.99) – Once you’ve mastered the basic poses, you can move on to more difficult routines. This app has Retina graphics for the third generation iPad, and it comes with more than 300 poses that include photos, videos, and audio instructions. There are also 3-D muscle models for each pose so you can master the right position, and the app also includes more than 30 Pranayama breathing exercises for stress relief.

Pocket Yoga ($2.99) – If you’re looking for something simple to remind you how to get into specific poses, or a quick workout, Pocket Yoga is a good choice. This app includes three different yoga practices with three different difficulty levels and three durations, for a totally customized workout experience. Pocket Yoga is focused on Gaia Flow Yoga, and comes with 145 pictures of poses and detailed voice instructions.

Yoga for Weight Loss ($2.99) – This app has a bit of a different focus than the other mentioned yoga apps because it’s targeted specifically at those who want to use Yoga to lose weight. This app combines “Core Yoga” techniques with therapeutic yoga poses for toning abs, getting in shape, and improving overall health. You’ll be guided through several different traditional Hatha Yoga poses with an emphasis in correct breathing methods. You can start at a beginner level, and then move to a more advanced program later on.

Yoga for Runners ($1.99) – Yoga for Runners is designed to help runners stretch and work out key muscles used when running. The app was designed by a runner who also happens to be a yoga instructor and it includes a 16 minute pre-run yoga sequence and a 14 minute post-run yoga sequence, which will cut down on muscle pulls and increase calorie burn. All the stretches are targeted at runners, and the app also includes unique smoothie and energy bar recipes.
