TED Launches TED Books App for iPhone, iPad

Ted Talks

No matter your interests or line of work, there is a TED Talk to address it. Now, with a slick new storefront style app, the books produced every two weeks by TED Conferences are available directly on your iPad and iPhone (complete with accompanying audio, photography, video and social network features).

Fortunately for those of you with little time to spare during your busy lives, “TED Books are typically under 20,000 words — long enough to unleash a powerful narrative, but short enough to be read in a single sitting.”

Ted Books can be downloaded from the App Store free of charge with books averaging around USD $3.00 a piece. For those with a voracious appetite for reading (and learning), 3-month/6-book subscriptions can also be purchased for USD $15.00. As an incentive for those who may be interested, a subscription purchased within the first 90 days (people that TED will be calling “Founding Subscribers”) earns you access to all of the books in their back catalog –well worth the price of admission!

With a mandate to communicate “Ideas Worth Spreading”, TED is a nonprofit group that began as a conference back in 1984. Now, in addition to that annual conference, TED has expanded to include multiple events across the globe, a video site, and a number of programs that feature prizes and fellowships for people that show the ability to inspire and motivate others.

Whether you are a long-time fan or new to the joys that TED can offer, it is certain that with this app you will be afforded the potential to read, listen and watch some of the best talks and performances from first-class minds and talents from the worlds of technology, entertainment and design. Prepare to have your mind blown.
