First, Google released an updated Google+ iPhone app in May with no mention of the iPad, and then in late June, during its I/O conference, the company Chrome was being added to the iPhone and the iPad, along with an updated Google+ app for tablets.
Google+ for Android was released that same day, but the iPad version was slightly delayed. Today the updated Google+ for iPad finally made its way into the App Store, where you can download it for free.
This new tablet version of the social networking site has iPad-specific features like pinch gestures to expand articles, a two finger drag to re-share posts from your stream, and the ability to start Hangouts on the iPad and stream them to your TV using AirPlay.
Hangouts, arguably the coolest new feature of Google’s new apps, can be started anywhere there’s Wi-Fi or 3G+ connectivity. Up to nine friends can join in. There’s also an iPad-optimized layout, easier photo sharing with Events, and a new Retina display for the third generation iPad.
Are you a Google+ user? What do you think of the new iPad app?
