Timbuk2 Power Commute and Power Q Bags Will Juice Up Your iPad

Environmentally aware accessory maker Timbuk2 has just announced the upcoming unveiling of two of their newest products at the Outdoor Retailer Summer Market 2012, scheduled for August 2-5. The company has teamed up with mobile electronics designer Joey Energy to create a line of bags that can recharge your gadgets while on the go.

Timbuk2’s new bags, the Power Commute and the Power Q, will be on display at the OR Summer Market for a hands-on review by industry professionals. The bags are equipped with Joey Energy’s T1 unit, which is the main feature of the recharging bags. “Timbuk2’s core consumer has a nomadic lifestyle. It made sense for us to partner with Joey Energy to offer the most innovative charging capabilities designed to keep consumers moving in two of Timbuk2’s top selling bag styles,” says Timbuk2’s CEO Mike Wallenfels.

The Power Commute is a TSA-compliant messenger bag that will be priced at $199 and available from the company’s website this October with a color scheme of black, gunmetal and algae green. The bag will include the Joey T1 fitted inside a dedicated pocket with weatherproof ports for threading the USB cable to the iPad or iPhone pocket. The bag is also roomy enough to fit most 15-inch laptops. The shoulder strap is removable to double as a briefcase-like bag.

The Power Q is Timbuk2’s most popular-selling backpack with the Joey T1 inside. It is priced at $199 and will be available from the company’s website this October with a color scheme of black, gunmetal and algae green.  It will included the Joey T1 fitted in a dedicated inside pocket. The bag is ventilated on the back to allow for better airflow. The custom-fit straps allow for a more comfortable fit. The bag is also roomy enough to fit a 15-inch laptop.

Both devices will be available from retail stores starting February 2013.

The Joey T1 power supply is designed with a tough, water resistant cast that is slim and includes a wire with a satellite USB port. Fully charged, the power supply provides weeks of device charging while in the bag. Users don’t need to bring various power cords, wall adaptors or cigarette lighter adaptors. Simply connect your iPad with a USB cable while taking a hike, riding the bus or sitting in a business meeting. You’ll never be without a power supply for charging your device again.

“We’re passionate about developing innovative solutions for people’s frenetic lifestyles,” said Joey Energy co-founder George Farkas. “Timbuk2 customers are highly mobile people who don’t want to spend their days searching for wall outlets, nor do they want to carry multiple wall charge cables for the electronics in their bag. We’re pleased to be partnering with Timbuk2 as they align with our mission to keep people moving and do so in a smart, stylish and functional way.”
