Need to Get Your Finances Under Control? Try IGG Software’s iBank for iPad

When it comes to finance management, it’s tough to beat’s iOS app, which allows users to track, budget, and manage their money in one convenient place. Mint might have some competition now, however, since IGG Software has just released iBank for iPad.

iBank originated on the Mac, but now it’s also available for iOS users. The app has several great money management features, but it stands out for its new subscription service, which allows instant updates of account balances from thousands of financial institutions around the world.

These updates take place in the background, so when you log into the app, your information is ready to go 24 hours a day, with up to the minute balances and analysis. The service, called Direct Access, is a bit pricy, but may be worth it if you have a lot of banking information to manage.

In addition to instant updates, the app also offers robust budgeting tools. You can enter income and bills, and transactions are pulled automatically from your accounts for easy tracking of spending and saving.

Investments can also be stored in the app, and users can access trades, positions, losses and gains, current market value, and historical performance, among other things. Portfolios are automatically updated.

iBank for iPad comes with an easy-to-use interface that’s perfect for quick navigation with interactive bar graphs and pie charts plus a professionally designed overview that’s been optimized for the Retina display of Apple’s third generation iPad.

It also offers complete account management, allowing users to group accounts into custom books for different family members and to move or back up those books with iTunes. Quickly access account details and set minimum balances, interest rates, and more. The app even supports multiple currencies.

While the iOS app can work as a companion to the iBank Mac app, it is not necessary to have the Mac app to use the iOS version. It is an entirely standalone app.

The app can be downloaded for $14.99 from the App Store. The Direct Access subscription service can be purchased in-apiBp for $5 per month or $40 per year, but comes with a free 30-day trial.
