Motive Stylus Offers Clever Storage and a Custom Tip — A Kickstarter Project

When it comes to iOS accessories, Kickstarter giveth, and then Kickstarter giveth some more. One of the latest projects, the Motive Stylus, offers users a choice of hard or soft writing tip, as well as a clever magnetized storage option that plays nice with Apple’s Smart Cover.

Inspired by his tendency to forget to pack a stylus with his iPad, project creator Ben Powell designed the Motive so that it would unroll, magnetically adhering to the front of the Smart Cover, yet remain unobtrusive enough that it could be left in place while the cover was in use.

Motive’s website offers potential backers a chance to view the stylus in combination with Apple’s entire range of Smart Covers.

Not sure which level of firmness you prefer in a styli? The Motive lets users try out both its firm and soft tip. The soft tip, which has a maximum compression of 2 mm is more flexible than the firm tip, which has a maximum compression of just 0.5 mm.

Though the early bird special, that offered the Motive Stylus to backers at a 50 percent discount is sold out, interested backers can still pledge $30 to receive one Motive Stylus in silver, black, blue, or red or pledge $60 for two styli, including shipping within the US. The Motive Stylus will retail for $40, so not only does pledging help Motive’s creator, but it saves shoppers a bit of money as well.

The Motive Stylus still needs additional backers to bring it to market. If you want to help this swanky styli become a reality be sure to pledge before the funding period closes on July 17, 2012. If the project is funded backers can expect to receive their styli by October 2012.
