When new versions of Apple’s mobile operating system comes out, the USBDeviceConfiguration.plist is one of the first places that techies looking to spread rumors looks for hidden information about possible upcoming devices, but not this time. There is no list, not even a fake one, for tech bloggers to regurgitate to the masses. What will we do for the next three months?
According to TUAW, iOS 6 still has the file, but there are no upcoming hints as to anything that may or may not be on Apple’s upcoming roster. No iPad mini, no iPhone 5, no Apple TV operating system, nothing.
Apple CEO Tim Cook recently spoke at AllThingsD’s D10 conference and went out of his way to let the public know that secrecy is of the utmost priority for the company in the future. “We’re going to double down on secrecy on products,” he said. This missing product key may be the start of a lockdown on leaks about Apple products.
That being said, its highly unlikely that Apple will push to keep everything a secret. They know as much as we do that the company generates most of its hype from people like us predicting, estimating and speculating on what the future holds for the next iPhone and iPad.
