Huffington Post Launches New ‘Huffington’ iPad Magazine

HuffingtonHuffPost isn’t a minor news organization. With nearly 500 editors and reporters producing over 70 original stories every day, they have content galore to share and part of that endeavor will be accomplished with a new iPad magazine that they have called Huffington. Included in that publication are the stories they consider to be “narrative jewels” or the very best of the best pulled together into a single location.

Promising “sophisticated design, stunning photographs and video, typography that’s sharper than any print publication, and rich, colorful full-screen ads that are far away from the maddening crowds of banner ads, pop-ups, and drop-downs,” Huffington strives to connect you to all of the happenings around the world.

The real value in Huffington is the ease with which you can browse (and share via Twitter, Facebook and E-mail) the content on your iPad. The article and page viewing features allow for quick skimming and swiping through each issue (and choose the issue you wish to read using the Bookshelf view). For those of you catching up on the news during your commute or in waiting rooms where you may not have access to a data connection, Huffington can be downloaded for offline reading.

The first issue of Huffington is available now and features “Peter Goodman on young voters’ disillusionment with President Obama; Mike Hogan on the indie filmmakers responsible for the cult hit Beginners; Lisa Belkin on fathers in the workplace; Howard Fineman on Karl Rove; and Tom Zeller’s devastating profile of the effects of a coal-ash landfill on a small, impoverished Alabama town.”

The app is free (and when you download the app you will be treated to a one month free trial), but subscriptions to content are available for $0.99 per weekly issue or $1.99 monthly, with a 1 year subscription available for $19.99. All subscriptions will be charged to your iTunes account once you confirm your purchase.
