Buy an iPad or a MacBook and Get a $50 or $100 App Store Gift Card with Apple’s Back to School Promo

If you are a college student, a parent buying for a college student, or a faculty member of a school, you can currently take advantage of Apple’s new back to school promotion with the purchase of a third generation iPad or a new Mac.

When you buy an iPad, you can get a $50 App Store card, but if you purchase a Mac, you’ll get a cool $100 in store credit.

Only the new iPad is eligible for this promotion, so if you were hoping to get an iPad 2 and snag the card along with it, you’re out of luck. As for Macs, you can buy a MacBook Pro, a MacBook Air, or an iMac.

This new promo began on Monday with the launch of the new MacBook Airs and MacBook Pros at WWDC, and will continue on until September 21, 2012.

If you’re considering posing as a student, be warned: Apple performs routine audits, and if you’re caught, you’ll have to pay the difference. On a brighter note, Apple is shipping the gift cards right away, so if you order a new item today, you may get that card by the end of this week.

This promotion applies to Apple devices bought at the Apple Online Store for Education, one of Apple’s Retail Stores, or an Apple Authorized Campus Store. The gift card can be used in the iOS and Mac App stores, the iTunes Store, or the iBookstore.
