Disney Makes a Brave-branded Move for Next iOS Game
When I saw the trailer for Disney Pixar’s upcoming movie Brave for the first time, I was blown away. The movie, about a young, red-headed Scottish girl seeking her freedom, looks like it’s going to be one of Pixar’s best.
I’m equally excited about Disney’s new Brave app, Temple Run Brave, which is going to be an endless runner based on the ultra popular iOS game, Temple Run.
In fact, Disney’s upcoming iOS title for the movie was developed in conjunction with the indie husband-and-wife team, Keith Shepard and Natalia Lukynova, who created Temple Run.
Since its release in August of 2011, Temple Run has been downloaded 80 million times. It’s still played 16 million times a day. Disney has been heavily invested in iOS games in recent months, beginning with its hit game Where’s My Water.
According to Steve Purcell, director of Brave, the game based on the movie was designed to capture the essence of the story while being fun to play. Merida, the movie’s title character, has a love of archery, which was transformed into a natural game element.

The graphics of Temple Run Brave are said to be Pixar-quality, and the game has new rewards to differentiate it from the original Temple Run game. Disney is planning on releasing the game on June 14th, for a base price of $0.99.
