Gesundheit HD is aptly named, because in this sweet but gross game, you’ll play as an allergy stricken pig, sneezing his way through puzzles filled with snot gobbling monsters.
This is a puzzle game, where the goal is to trap the evil monsters by luring them with the contents of the pig’s nose. To do this, you’ll need to overcome obstacles, such as triggering switches and navigating walls and islands, while avoiding being gobbled up by the monsters.
Each level has a monster and a series of levers or teleporting stars, and you must navigate around, getting the monsters to chase you or leading them around the level with your snot.
The game has intuitive controls, and to move, you’ll simply tap where you want to go. You can zoom into the level using pinch gestures to get a better look at what is going on. You’ll fire your snot by tapping your character and pulling back with your finger. There’s an aiming arrow, and you can direct where you want your snot projectile to go before releasing, so it’s easy to get it to go where you’re aiming.
In addition to luring the monster to the trap, you will also need to collect star fruits, which are scattered around the level. Star fruits are used to unlock new levels in the game.
You will need to press buttons, either by walking on them or by shooting snot on them, and there are also star-shaped teleporters that are activated when you walk on them, sending you to different parts of the level. With all of these obstacles combined, levels are fun and challenging to complete.
Gesundheit HD has unique gameplay and a super fun story line that kids and adults alike are sure to love, but the best part of the game is easily the adorable hand drawn graphics – they really make this app shine.
What I liked: It’s silly and fun to send snot flying, and a bit gross to watch monsters gobble it up with delight. I loved the artwork, and the concept along with the characters made this an enjoyable game.
What I didn’t like: There’s also an iPhone version of this game, and I’d like it even more if it were universal. I’d rather pay one price than buy a game twice. I thought that the instructions were a bit sparse, and I could have done with more information on luring the monsters in the beginning.
To buy or not to buy: This is a fun game that was just updated with Retina graphics and all new levels, so now is the perfect time to pick it up.
