FlipStands is a folding iPad stand which is compatible with all iPad models. Made of lightweight, durable ABS plastic, FlipStands is sturdy and portable.
To open FlipStands press the button on the back of the stand. Position the rear support (similar to what one might find on the back of a picture frame) in one of the 20 slots to change the angle at which the stand holds the iPad.
Fold down the front-facing tabs to hold the iPad. To close the stand, just reverse the steps. When folded, the FlipStands’ profile is no thicker than the iPad.
FlipStands held my iPad securely in all three configurations: landscape, portrait, and typing. When used in the upright position, FlipStands allows the user to position the iPad at practically any angle she wishes.
The addition of the two non-slip strips on the front of the stand kept the iPad from slipping off while in typing mode. I preferred to keep the front-facing tabs folded down while typing, because they got in the way of my fingers, but opening them would make the iPad more secure while resting on the stand in typing mode.
The front-facing support legs also have grooves to help keep the iPad in place.
A hole in the front of the stand allows the iPad to charge while resting on the front-facing support legs.
While FlipStands can be used practically anywhere one brings an iPad, I think it would be particularly useful when reading, or in the kitchen while cooking.
What I liked: FlipStands has a very small footprint. It stores easily in a purse, backpack, or desk drawer.
What I didn’t like: FlipStands usability hinges (pun intended) on the four small plastic hinges that pop out to hold the iPad or to configure the stand for typing. Care should be taken so they hinges don’t break off because if they do, the stand won’t function.
To buy or not to buy: Any tablet owner looking for a stable, portable iPad stand will be satisfied with FlipStands.
