You’d Better Run Like Mad If You Want to Escape from Age of Monsters HD — iPad Game Review
For those that already know about Age of Monsters, the rock-paper-scissors game that turned a simple game of chance upside-down, this sophomore release from the same developer (in collaboration with Ayopa Games) is an endless runner that takes the same characters and breathes new and terrifying life into them.
The game drops you, into a broken down building overrun with monsters that are hell bent on gobbling you and the young ones you are trying to protect.
As you run down the corridor, you must bust through walls. There are red walls and blue walls. You are also wearing special gloves that help you break down the barriers. You must tap the red glove to hit red, and the blue glove to hit blue. If you miss, or use the wrong color, a monster will grab one of your companions until you are the last one standing, or running, and the monster gets you.
As the levels progress, walls turn into monsters and two kids turn into three, if you get an extra life. As you run, bonuses appear on the screen and you must swipe across them to earn special items, like coins, multipliers or speed power ups. Coins can be used to purchase things like extra lives and additional multipliers. If you don’t want to earn coins the old-fashioned way, you can buy them through in-app purchases.

What I liked: The art looks great. It reminds me of comic book style drawing ala Darkhorse or IDW Publishing. The gameplay is easy to figure out, but challenging enough to keep you on your toes.
What I didn’t like: Even though I liked the music that is attached to this game (from L.A. band The Binges) it got irritating pretty fast. The music isn’t bad, but it overpowers the game a little.
To buy or not to buy: Absolutely. Fans of endless runner games will love Escape from Age of Monsters HD.
