While the dog may be man’s best friend, the new mobile scanner from Xerox released earlier this year is proving itself to be your iOS device’s best friend.
The Xerox Mobile Scanner is a battery powered scanner (promising over 300 pages scanned per charge) with a “4GB custom Eye-Fi card that uses Wi-Fi to wirelessly transmit JPG images and multipage PDF files from the scanner to computers, mobile phones, pads and the cloud.”
The real beauty of the scanner is the compatibility, with a free app it promises to communicate wirelessly to a PC, Android®, Mac®, iPhone®, iPad®, iPod® touch, or the Cloud. This is important for many of us who are currently using the cameras in our mobile devices to act as makeshift scanners that don’t do nearly the quality possible with actual scanning hardware.
Initial reviews are all glowing. David Pogue at The New York Times had the chance to give one of the scanners a spin and concluded that:
“Xerox has done a beautiful job of making its machine solid, simple and competent… the scans are clean, straight and sharp. You’d have a hard time telling them apart from the work of a big-footprint desktop flatbed home scanner.”
The 1.5 pound scanner comes equipped with Nuance PaperPort, OmniPage and NewSoft Presto! BizCard software and can accommodate documents ranging from a minimum of 2″ x 2″ inches to a maximum of 8.5″ x 14″ inches.
With a name you can trust and sales approaching USD $23 billion, Xerox can boast being the world’s leading enterprise for business process and document management with over 140,000 staff ready to serve clients in more than 160 countries
If you would like to get your hands on on, the Xerox Mobile Scanner is available at an MSRP of $249.99 and can be purchased through retail and online channel partners, major resellers and Xerox directly.
