FileMaker Unveils FileMaker Go 12 for iPad and iPhone

Apple, Inc. subsidiary FileMaker just announced the launch of its new database software line, FileMaker 12. The new program is available for Windows and Mac and incorporates free mobile apps for the iPhone and iPad.

The iOS apps make it easier for businesses to run database apps created by FileMaker Pro 12.

Businesses can created detailed and efficient easy-to-use database software to create custom apps to facilitate and increase productivity with FileMaker Pro. The mobile app, FileMaker Go allows employees to remotely access the database apps from the iPad or iPhone. Users can capture signatures, view reports and charts, save information as PDF and Excel files, and email or print data.

From the App Store summary page:

– Multitasking support — When you return to your database app from other apps, FileMaker Go picks up right where you left off.
– Improved media integration — Record video or audio from your iPad and add it directly to a container field. Play back media directly from FileMaker Go.
– Export data in multiple formats — Export your data from FileMaker Go in several new formats including Excel, CSV, TAB, or HTML files.
– Enhanced container fields — When hosting databases on FileMaker Server 12, instantly stream movies and music from your device without any data storage limit concerns.

The FileMaker 12 line of software bosts performance for larger databases, while enhancing WAN performance assists remotely connected users. “Thanks to FileMaker Pro 12 and its ease of extension to iOS devices, creating a full-on Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system for small business will take a lot less time and effort than I ever imagined,” says George Page, president, Sea Breeze Farm.

FileMaker Pro 12 is $299 ($179 as an upgrade), FileMaker Pro 12 Advanced is $499 ($299 as an upgrade), FileMaker Server 12 is $999 ($599 as an upgrade) and FileMaker Server 12 Advanced is $2,999 ($1,799 as an upgrade). The iOS compatible apps, FileMaker Go 12 for iPad and FileMaker Go 12 for iPhone are both free and available in the App Store now.
