Want to See What Your New iPad Retina Display Can Do? Download the Updated iTunes Movies Trailers App!

iTunes Movie TrailersHaving a new third generation iPad is a little bit like owning a brand new muscle car. It has all kind of horsepower and potential but we are just learning what the potential may be and just how capable it is of performing at optimum levels. As more apps are released that take advantage of the high-resolution Retina display we are so excited to have, we are starting to appreciate just how bright and clear it really is.

Now, Apple has given us an update to their iTunes Movie Trailers app that is set to deliver content in all the new screen’s glory.

Even just viewing a screenshot from Pixar’s upcoming movie Brave shows the clarity and detail you can expect. A quick download (for free from the App Store) will show you just what you have been missing –high definition video that can really be enjoyed. All content from Apple’s popular Movie Trailers website is mirrored within this app, giving you an impressive sized library of flicks to pick from.

Apple has not specified what resolution the video is being delivered in, but sufficed to say it’s fantastic. One word of caution of course, downloading video content may just put a strain on the amount of data you are allowed by your subscription plan so you may want to try test driving this one on WiFi as much as possible even though it will work streaming over LTE just as well.

Even beyong this addition, Apple delivers a solid feature-set within this app, including the ability to “browse trailers, clips, and featurettes for the biggest Hollywood blockbusters and independent cinema; view stunning HD photos; explore a year-long calendar of movie releases; find showtimes near you and get ticket info directly from your iPad or iPhone.” All those things combine to make an excellent companion for anybody who loves movies.
