Netflix Adds Retina Display Support to iPad App

Thanks to a recent update the Netflix iOS app is now compatible with the new iPad’s Retina Display. Whether you tune in to get caught up on Mad Men before it premieres on Sunday or watching Office Space for the gazillionth time, your shows are going to look gorgeous on the new iPad’s screen.

In addition to the Retina Display update, Netflix also tweaked its voice-over support and improved playback on external displays. The company also rolled out “numerous fixes and stability improvements” — a ubiquitous term so general that it seems almost meaningless.

A little bird (OK, it was Netflix on Twitter) mentions HD video streaming is forthcoming as well.

The app is still free to download from the App Store, and current app users will need to update their version of the app for changes to take advantage of the improvements.

Will the iPad kill the TV business and the PC business. Who needs a 50″ screen that plugs into the wall? That is so 2004.
