Watch What Happens When a New iPad Really Overheats

By now we’ve all heard how the new iPad runs a few degrees hotter than its predecessor. While the temperature does get up to 116° F its nowhere near hot enough to hurt you or the iPad. To do real damage you’ll need a bit more heat, say from a laser that burns 8,000 times brighter than the sun.
Lowell Niles decided to put the new iPad through a bit of a heat test to see what happens when the iPad really gets overheated by a series of high power Wicked Lasers Spyder III Kryptons, Arctics, and Torches. The iPad doesn’t stand a chance against these high-tech weapons of destruction. Wicked touts these as some of the world’s most powerful handheld lasers and flashlights that an average consumer can buy and based on the video we’re not going to doubt their claims.
The results of this little experiment are impressive. The new iPad is reduced to a smoldering heap in mere minutes under this powerful barrage of high powered lasers. According to Niles, “This is what happens when your new iPad 3 battery overheats and explodes. As you can see its like a bomb and it almost burned my garage down!” Kids, don’t try this at home.
