Another iPad 3 Sighting Points at an 8MP Camera
We’re getting close. The iPad 3 is in the air and the rumors are starting to be a little less fuzzy and a little more tangible. With new images leaked of the apparent rear casing on the new iPad, Electronista reported on our hopes of a newer, better camera will be realized.
It may seem like grasping, but a side-by-side comparison of the old iPad versus the supposed new iPad 3 shows a larger rear lens giving credence to the rumor that we can expect an 8MP camera.
What the rest of the iPad 3 will look like is still a big mystery. Most rumors suggest that we can also look forward to a quad-core processor but some still feel that a faster version of the dual-core chip is more likely. I think most of us are okay with whatever we get as long as the screen has a higher resolution and the camera is better. The rest is just gravy.
These leaked pictures show a steeper slope to the back of the new iPad which may be an effort to minimize a thicker body (which may be the result of a longer-lasting battery or the mechanics behind the Retina display). The rest of the case looks about the same with the volume rocker and speaker appearing in much the same spot, in much the same size with much the same apparent functionality. And whynot? It’s working for the iPad.
The expected date for the launch sits on or around March 7, with rumors suggesting dates within a few days on either side –and almost all agreeing that devices will start shipping within a week of the announcement. That time-span makes sense and follows Apple’s established pattern but no matter when it happens, it won’t be soon enough.
It’s getting awfully uncomfortable balancing on the edge of our seats as we wait!
