According to iMore, Apple is going to hold the iPad 3 launch event on Wednesday, March 7th, 2012. Citing “sources who have been reliable in the past,” iMore also says that the iPad 3 is indeed going to feature a quad-core A6 processor, in addition to its upgraded 2048×1536 display.
The site also mentions that 4G LTE might “possibly” be included, and then goes on to say that even reliable information is subject to last minute changes by Apple.
A March 7th release date does coincide with the early March launch rumors, and iMore (previously Tipb) has been correct on Apple predictions in the past, most recently accurately calculating the pre-order date for the iPhone 4S. Apple usually holds their launch events on Tuesday or Wednesday so March 7th (a Wednesday) is definitely a possibility. Apple unveiled the iPad 2 last year on March 2 which also happened to be a Wednesday.
Jim Darlrymble from LoopInsight, known to have connections with Apple sources, has confirmed the date announced by iMore.
It looks like we’ve got less than a month to go until the iPad 3 announcement, and since launch days often follow announcements by about a week, we could have our hands on Apple’s next generation tablet by this time next month!
I’m crossing my fingers for that quad-core processor and an updated camera. What are you hoping to see in the iPad 3?
