Mutate and Attack in Monster Wars – iPad Game Reviewe

Monster WarsLiv Games is at it again with their Monster Wars follow-up to their successful Legendary Wars. Lead and command a monster army in what the developer describes as a “perfect blend of Castle Defense, Hack and Slash action and RPG.”

This game spares no details. Beginning with a detailed and sophisticated back-story, Monster Wars lets you get medieval in the forces of light.

The start of the game is a tutorial mode that helps you through the campaign with instructions, tips and tricks. Similar tips are displayed anytime you need to wait a moment for aspects of the game to load. I caution you to pay close attention to these because it will make your life a whole lot easier!

Have a little fun with this one, kill the uglies and steal their souls. With a meter full of abomination-droppings you can activate special attacks that kick things up more than a few notches!

This game falls into the category of ‘easy to learn but difficult to master’ which is always the sign of a quality app.

What I liked: The graphics in this game are really astounding. A cross between comic book styling and movie-quality cells, the game boasts “beautifully detailed environments with eye-popping parallax scrolling.”

What I didn’t like: While I did enjoy reading the back-story and having it set the stage for the game, I found that the text appeared on the screen a little too slowly. With a tap you can skip the page, but there is no way I could find to accelerate the display of the words.

To buy or not to buy: If you loved Legendary Wars or you are always on the look-out for a great RPG, then Monster Wars is an excellent choice and a bargain for the price.
