Touchtv Launches TV Clip iPad App

Touchtv, a new free app for the iPad from the developers of the popular news app Skygrid, serves up bite-sized portions of TV, perfect for viewing on a mobile device.
The app aggregates clips from the websites of TV networks like ESPN, Discovery, Comedy Central, ABC, CBS, National Geographic, and Lifetime, allowing users to watch them anytime and in anyplace.
Skygrid signed deals with these networks that allows the Touchtv app to download video from their websites. Currently, the app only supports short clips of TV shows, which is a great way to catch the best moments in just a few minutes.
Choose your favorite channels, and the app will organize them into an easy-to-browse grid, where a tap will take you to a show clip. This app is clearly geared towards both news sites and sports clips, which are most suited to the short format.
While you could just visit these individual websites on your own, it’s easier to use the app since it pulls videos from a number of channels. Plus, Touchtv supports AirPlay, so clips from the app can be played on your big screen television.
This iPad-only app is currently available for free in the App Store, so it’s worth a look. You may want to download it now, because the company is working on striking deals to get longer content in addition to the clips that it currently shows.
