Race Through the Hills with Woody Woodpecker – iPad Game Review

email

Woody WoodpeckerCreated and brought to life by renowned cartoonist Walter Lanz, few animated characters are as recognizable and well-loved as Woody Woodpecker.

Saying this game is addictive is a serious understatement. It’s the kind of game you won’t be able to set down. The premise of the game is very simple as you race against your friends while riding the hills in each course like a roller-coaster.

You have to get your timing just right as you allow yourself to gain momentum climbing hills, but then tuck and fly down the slopes to get further faster! Use the power-ups and weapons to gain the advantage over the other racers in a way that really is good-hearted and fun.

Racing along side you are Chilly Willy, Winnie Woodpecker, Miss Meanie, and Buzz Buzzard, but you can also choose to race as your favorite character instead of as Woody, if you prefer. Each racer has their own strengths and weaknesses so it can’t hurt to try them out to see who best suits your own personal playing style!

Happily, this is a game that is fun for the whole family… even your children will want to take a turn!

What I liked: It didn’t take long to get the hang of the game interface and controls, but it was difficult enough to keep me engaged while I tried to master them.

What I didn’t like: When games like this feature a large number of Game Center achievements I always appreciate a way to view my accomplishments easily in-app, but that isn’t available with this one.

To buy or not to buy: If you love racing games with a cartoon twist, or you have a fondness in your heart for Woody Woodpecker, this is a definite need-to-own app for you!
