Shazam Reinvents the Music Player Experience on iOS

Shazam is known for being that magical app that listens to any song around you and spits out the title and the lyrics, but the company is branching out and transforming into a fully fledged music service with the new Shazam Player app.

The Shazam Player allows you to play music, see streaming lyrics, and watch YouTube videos of your favorite songs and artists.

With the player’s LyricPlay, you can see real-time streaming lyrics while you listen to songs. You will never embarrass yourself again by shouting out the wrong lyrics to a song if you have this app. There are tens of thousands of tracks with lyrics available now, with more being added all the time.

The Shazam Player also features a detailed organizational system that will allow you to find exactly what you’re looking for with no hassle. Search by music, artist, album, and track – then tap the blue triangle next to any song to open up the Track Tray, which shows all of the Shazam features for each song.

All of your existing iTunes playlists are available in the app, but you can also create new playlists quickly and easily at any time. Connections with your social networks allow you to share your favorite content with friends, and find the music that they like too.

Want to try the new Shazam Player? It’s currently available for download in the App Store at no cost to you. Give it a whirl and let us know what you think.

Hmmm… interesting. It looks like they are rolling in a bunch of features that SoundHound has had for a while now, and giving it a more centralized music player presence. Could be a good move – maybe I’ll go back to using Shazam instead of SoundHound!
