Vizio Teases Consumers With Upcoming 10-Inch Tablet, But Is It Good Enough?
Vizio has been making headlines with news of product announcements to be unveiled at this year’s Consumer Electronics Show (CES).
Today, the company has posted a teaser on its website of a 10-inch version of its tablet.
Being called the VTA3010, the product page merely states:
Meet VIZIO’s next-generation tablet. With a beautiful 10″ display and surprisingly powerful, it’s a world of entertainment right at your fingertips.
Vizio’s eight-inch tablet runs Android’s 2.3 operating system. It features a 1024×768 multi touch screen with a front-facing camera. Reviews of the tablet are underwhelming as some consider the software interface to be “clunky” and the physical design to be bulky. However, most reviews compliment the tablet as being better than expected for the money. The eight-inch version runs at a retail price of $329, but can be found for as low as $230 online.
If Vizio is planning on competing with the iPad it has a lot of updating, upgrading and redesigning do to. A smaller tablet with a slightly smaller price tag may win over some who don’t want to spend an extra $200 for a better quality tablet. But if the company is planning on charging more for the larger model, presumably increasing by the industry standard of $100, being “better than expected for the price” is not going to be good enough.
