See Yourself as a Superstar with Video Star – iPad App Review

Video StarIf you love music and can’t help singing along to your favorite songs, consider loading up Video Star, choosing a song from your collection (or launch iTunes from within the app to find that song you just can’t get out of your head) and start making your own music video! The sophistication of your creation is entirely up to you. Take advantage of the built-in effects and filters or try your hand at creating your own!

It may be cheesy, but it’s also fun!

While it would be nice to have more editing functionality, this app is the kind of quick and dirty fun that doesn’t require a huge learning curve or time investment. Use this app for a little afternoon hilarity with your children or friends and see how goofy you can be!

Once you are satisfied with the video you have created, share the final cut on YouTube, by Email or save it to your camera roll to use in any way you like later on.

What I liked: The interface is very responsive and the effects are applied as quickly as you select them while a song is playing and video is being recorded.

What I didn’t like: It would be nice if a timeline displayed as your song was playing so you could see how many seconds you are into the song as well as how much time remains. This would also help for effects that you want to display for a certain (consistent) period of time.

To buy or not to buy: This app isn’t going to appeal to everybody but I think it could be a real riot at a slumber or birthday party.
