Console Meets iPad in Call of Duty: Black Ops Zombies – iPad Game Review

Call of Duty: Black Ops ZombiesWhen they say that iOS devices are becoming the most popular gaming devices, games like Call of Duty: Black Ops Zombies are exactly the reason why. Adapted from the popular console game, Call of Duty: Black Ops Zombies delivers 50 levels of man versus zombie excitement.

Choosing between single player or up to 4-player co-op multiplayer (with voice-chat!), your charge is to eliminate as many zombies as you are able.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Zombies can be played at three difficulty levels from recruit to veteran, giving you considerable ability to up the ante when you get a little too good at hunting zombies. I started as a recruit and I can tell you that it will be quite some time before I graduate any further!

The tutorial level walks you through the game which is very helpful because the interface is quite sophisticated. Those of you already familiar with the franchise will likely breeze through this step once you realize how all of the familiar actions map to a touchscreen.

Before you can download this game you will have to acknowledge that you are 17 or older and this is wise because the content is quite graphically violent. This caution should extend to anybody of any age that may be offended or uncomfortable with the included graphics or this style of game.

What I liked: The environment is spectacular and your view can rotate and change very easily and remarkably without any lag whatsoever.

What I didn’t like: The on-screen instructions in the tutorial are very helpful in terms of plain-text how-to style information but I found it took a little tinkering to find out just how close I needed to be to effectively hack and slash a zombie or rebuild a barricade that I’ve knocked down.

To buy or not to buy: Serious gamers won’t be able to put this one down once they give it a test drive. If you have ever played Call of Duty on a console I think you owe it to yourself to give this one a try.
