Apple Says Older Devices Won’t Get Siri
Sorry guys, it looks like you won’t be getting Siri on your iPhone 4 or your iPad 2. While Apple never made an official announcement stating its plans for Siri, an unofficial message from an Apple engineer has revealed that Apple does not have plans to extend Siri to older devices.
An individual contacted Apple support with a bug report that also suggested that Apple provide an upgraded version of iOS with Siri included, for an additional cost of $19.99.
Apple responded saying that Siri is only functional on the iPhone 4S, and that Apple does not currently intend to allow Siri on other devices.
Here’s the text in its entirety:
Engineering has provided the following feedback regarding this issue: Siri only works on iPhone 4S and we currently have no plans to support older devices.
That’s it, folks. While this is indeed an unconfirmed rumor, it’s inline with Apple’s silence on the matter. Siri won’t be officially added to iPhones or iPads in the near future, but that doesn’t mean it will never happen. Those of you iPhone 4 owners who are just dying to get your hands on Siri might as well fork over the cash and upgrade to an iPhone 4S.
