With many of us seeing snow for the first time this season in the last week, a patio party may be the last thing on our minds. But with Christmas around the corner and some of us fortunate enough to live somewhere that is warm year-round the idea of listening to our music outdoors is a welcome thought (or something to look forward to).
Russound has released the AirGo, a weather-resistant, amplified speaker dock for use with Apple AirPort Express.
Installation and use of the AirGo is very simple. Once you have your AirPort Express configured, slide it into the weather-proof pocket on the back of the speaker dock! With that completed, you can stream your music wirelessly using AirPlay directly from your iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch, Mac or PC.
I love the idea of a speaker dock that you don’t need to worry about, even if you’re dancing by the pool or your backyard party is hit by a few afternoon showers.
As an added bonus, the AirGo will behave as a WiFi hotspot allowing you to have access to the Internet outdoors with decent signal strength! My first thought here is that they were really thinking forward because as more of us adopt iCloud and store our music online, we are going to need Internet access to fully take advantage of our music libraries!
If you don’t have an AirPort Express, you can still take advantage of the AirGo using the supplied audio cable. This connection also lets you use the speaker with a variety of devices other than those made by Apple.
The AirGo is available at a cost of US $399 and is available at many major retailers including Amazon, Best Buy and Crutchfield.
Russound is no newcomer to the audio game having provided integrated audio systems to custom installers for over 35 years.
