Apple Store 2.0 App Adds EasyPay Self-Checkout Option

There’s been a major update to the official Apple Store app for iOS, adding EasyPay. EasyPay allows shoppers to scan an item at an Apple Store in order to check themselves out, without the need for an Apple Store employee.

Of course, customers can’t waltz in and purchase a Macbook or an iPad and do their own checkouts. That would prevent Apple employees from upselling on accessories and Apple Care. Instead, the EasyPay checkout service is available for just select accessories.

The app also is limited to customers in the United States who are using an iPhone 4 or an iPhone 4S. There may be cameras on the iPad 2 and the iPod Touch, but the devices don’t work with the app.

Customers can also choose to pick up purchases at their local Apple Store when using the app to shop, an option that’s also been made available on Apple’s website. Interested in checking yourself out next time you purchase an accessory at the Apple Store? Apple’s Apple Store app can be downloaded in the App Store for free.
