This week’s category is: Spooky Apps for Halloween

.) Puppetshow: Mystery of Joyville HD ($6.99) – is a “find the hidden objects” game that takes you on a spooky adventure where you must collect clues and solve the mystery of the missing people of Joyville. Use items you have found to discover new clues, unlock areas to investigate and play 18 mini-games. Just don’t play this game before you go to bed, or you might have nightmares. Get ready to solve nefarious puzzles and uncover the dark secrets of a town that is anything but joyful.

.) The Black Cat- Edgar Allan Poe- Full Version ($1.99) – This is quite possibly the creepiest interactive book in the entire App Store. Every page is literally crawling with visuals. You can flick cockroaches off the letters, knock over bottles and watch the rail fall while you read one of Poe’s most chilling tales of horror. Be warned, this is not for the weak at heart. This is one of the most famous mysterious gothic tales about a murderer who carefully conceals his crime and believes himself unassailable.

.) Zombie Highway ($0.99) – is a fun casual game of driving where your goal is to survive a zombie attack. Using tilt controls, swerve your car into overturned vehicles to scrape the undead off your side windows. Help passengers shoot the brain-eaters for additional damage. Watch out, though. If you don’t succeed in keeping the zombies away, they will turn your car upside down and your guts inside out. Improve your skills, unlock weapons, beat all your friends on Facebook. It will be hard to put this one down.

.) Abominable Skull Clock HD ($1.99) – doesn’t do much, but it sure packs a punch. It is a simple time-telling app with lots of scary animation.  The clock makes a creepy sound every 15 minutes, and puts on a real spectacle at the top of the hour. You can even make it laugh maniacally by giving it a tap. Set this up in the living room while handing out your tricks and treats this Halloween. Have an iPad 2? Abominable Skull Clock HD takes full advantage of the extra graphics power to greatly enhance your time viewing experience with improved frame rate.

.) Scene it? Horror Movies 2 HD (Free with in-app purchases) is a great app for fans of horror films. Each trivia question relates to dialog, directors, actors, movie images and all sorts of other tidbits about classic horror films. It is AirPlay enabled so you can play against your friends at this year’s Halloween party by displaying the trivia questions on your T.V. screen. This app will let you show off your horror movie trivia mastery with a stylish, fast-paced trivia game.

.) Thumpies XL ($3.99) is a rhythm based game that incorporates some pretty mischievous monsters. It is simple to play, not unlike Tap Tap Revenge, but has a ghoulish theme. The quirky art design of Thumpies is accompanied by a unique musical score composed by award winning industry veteran David Kerr. The music was crafted with game play in mind giving the player a harmonizing experience. It is a great game to play while waiting for the night to come.

.) Fishdom Halloween Splash HD (Free with in-app purchase) is a great game of match-three. Fishdom has been a longtime favorite of mine. As you complete each level, you earn money to spend on building your own fish tank. This version is Halloween themed with pumpkins, ghosts and witches hats, as well as tank decorations that will scare your fishes’ scales right off. Have fun taking care of quirky tropical fishies and adding boo-tiful accessories to the virtual aquarium of your dreams.

.) Bakery Story: Halloween (Free with in-app purchases) is the Halloween version of the popular Bakery Story game. Make adorable pumpkin cookies, gravestone brownies and all sorts of other spooky treats. You can even decorate your bakery with lots of cute Halloween goodies. Don’t forget to make sure your customers are happy and well-fed by choosing stunning decoration and tasty new pastries!
