TomTom, developer of several iOS apps that provide turn by turn directions to transform the iPhone and the iPad into fully functional GPS units, has just released a new version 1.9 update that adds iPad optimization to each of the apps.
Existing TomTom for iPhone users can download the new update at no cost, and those of you who have been waiting patiently for a native iPad solution can now purchase a beautifully designed app that displays perfectly on the iPad’s larger screen.
The new TomTom App for iPhone/iPad has a higher resolution for sharper graphics and maps, plus an enhanced user interface that fits a larger screen size. In full screen, the app allows users to access the driving view and the advanced lane guidance at the same time.
Switching to driving view is a simple one-touch procedure from anywhere in the app. In addition to the UI overhaul, TomTom App for iPhone/iPad has also been updated with new road information and new points of interest. Traffic mode is available as an added monthly subscription, and there are plenty of fun options available as in-app purchases, such as added voices featuring directions from Homer, Mr. Burns, Darth Vader, Yoda, and more.
TomTom App for iPhone/iPad 1.9 (U.S. version) is available for download for $49.99 in the App Store. Other versions have also been updated for the iPad, and you can find options like TomTom Europe, Brazil, Mexico, and Australia in the App Store.
