Quite Possibly The Most Awesome iPad Case Ever
There are so many apps out there for virtual guitar playing, digital drumming and MIDI supported keyboards that you could almost call the iPad an instrument. Starr Labs is taking that idea to the max and has created the iTar.
The iTar is a case for your iPad that works like a MIDI guitar, which will make your Apple tablet the single most shreddingest piece of technology to date (yes, I just made up the word shreddingest, but it sounded so cool in my head).
Starr Labs has been making MIDI guitars (called ZTars) for years. The creators at Starr Labs have designed a MIDI guitar that houses the iPad, connecting it to the electronic fret board and allowing users to play their iPad like a real instrument, strap and all.
The iTar has not yet been built. It is still in design mode, but Starr Labs is looking for funds to help bring their dream to life. You can donate to the cause through Kickstarter. I don’t think “donate” is really even the correct word to use. You can preorder your iTar through Kickstarter for only $200.
There are various levels of pledges that you could contribute, including as little as $1 or as much as $10,000. The tipping point for the project to go forward is $50,000. Only 250 people would need to pre-order their iTar for this thing to hit the ground running. To put the price in perspective; the cost of a Starr Labs ZTar ranges between $1,000 and $6,500, so the iTar is an awesome deal.
