The New York Times has just reported that Facebook has finally released an iPad-optimized version of their social networking site. We’ve been teased with its release for so long now that I was starting to think it would never happen. Now, iPad owners everywhere can spend even more time interacting with their friends online without having to use a third-party app.
According to The New York Times, there have been some major improvements that are highlighted in both the iPhone and the iPad-optimized version.
From the website:
“Photos and videos are given prominence in the app and can be viewed full-screen. Users can also capture photos and videos with the iPad and put them directly into the Facebook news feed. Gaming and Facebook Chat are also major components of the app.”
This app has been a long time coming. So long, in fact, that many have already found perfectly good Facebook apps for the iPad. Friendly Plus and MyPad are already popular and efficient ways to view the social networking site. Other than being free, what does the official app have that others haven’t done just as well, or even better. Hopefully, the Facebook app for iPad will actually have been worth the wait.
