Family Game Night Goes Digital with Duo Pop and Duo Plink for iPad

DuoPop and DuoPlink, the two newest accessories from Discovery Bay Games, are designed to unite traditional board game play with electronic gaming. The company’s motto: “Play Together, Not Apart” strives to bring family gaming into the electronic age.

Both accessories interact with the iPad as well as several apps designed specifically for each device. Both DuoPop and DuoPlink are suitable for multi-player competitions and are appropriate for a range of ages.

In DuoPop each player or team aims to be the first to answer a question using the handheld popper. DuoPop connects to the iPad via Wi-Fi. The accessory is compatible with three different game apps that are currently available in the App Store: Guesstimation – Duo,
Highlights Hidden Pictures Countdown, and Saturday Night Live -The Game. Players may download these DuoPop game apps for free from the App Store. Users may also buy additional game content for all three apps through in-app purchase.

DuoPop is appropriate for ages 6 and up, and can accommodate 2 – 4 players or teams. DuoPop is available for purchase now at Target, for $39.99.

With DuoPlink, the iPad becomes a digital board game. DuoPlink is designed to sit atop the iPad, where it acts as a score keeping device. Players can choose between two answers to a question, which they mark by placing a token on the game board. DuoPlink keeps score and banks the tokens at the end of each turn.

DuoPlink is compatible with two apps, Yoomi (free) and Smithsonian Artifact or Fiction ($2.99), both of which are available to download from the App store.

Duoplink is appropriate for ages 5 and up, and can accommodate 2-6 players. DuoPlink is available at Target for $29.99.
