Oceanhouse Media Announces Release of Dr. Seuss’ The Bippolo Seed and Other Lost Stories

Dr. Seuss books are as much a part of childhood as recess and popsicles, and they are just as popular today as they were when they were first published in the 1950s.  Oceanhouse Media has already brought a number of Dr. Seuss favorites to the iPad and today they added yet another title to the list.

The Bippolo Seed and Other Lost Stories features a collection of seven short stories written and illustrated by Dr. Seuss for Redbook magazine in the 1950s.  ”These stories were written at a time when Dr. Seuss was really hitting his stride as a writer and illustrator,” said Susan Brandt, President of Dr. Seuss Enterprises. “It’s almost like getting a peek into his creative genius before he published such classic works as The Cat in Hat and Green Eggs and Ham.”

Oceanhouse Media is dedicated to creating quality iPad, iPhone and iPod apps for kids, bringing Dr. Seuss’ 20th century stories to life using 21st century technology.  “We’re extremely honored to be given this opportunity to create an app for a new Dr. Seuss book,” said Michel Kripalani, President of Oceanhouse Media. “Our team continually asks, ‘What would Ted Geisel (Dr. Seuss) want to see in a children’s book app if he were here today?’ This helps us in our development process and encourages us to stay true to his original intentions.”

We’ve reviewed several Dr. Seuss titles from Oceanhouse Media and recommend all of them. The universal apps take full advantage of the large iPad screen and provide a wonderful reading experience for kids of all ages. Enjoy the whimsical text and artwork you know and love from Dr. Seuss every time you sit down to read.

The newest omBook provides three reading options: Auto Play (geared toward younger readers), which plays like a movie by automatically reading and turning pages; Read To Me, which allows users to listen to the narrated story with words highlighted as they are read; and Read It Myself, which lets users read the book in its traditional format.

Book features include:

  • Three reading options – Read to Me, Read it Myself and Auto Play
  • Picture/word association – words zoom up and are spoken when pictures are touched
  • Words highlight and pop up in the story as they are read
  • Professional audio narration
  • Custom background audio for each scene

Dr. Seuss lovers will want to add this latest omBook to their iPad app collection. You can download The Bippolo Seed and Other Lost Stories now for $6.99 from the App Store.
