In our photo series, we’ve gone over plenty of apps that allow you to turn mundane pictures into extraordinary photos, and upload them to your social networking sites. The app presented today is slightly different, as it is an organizational app that allows you to display your photos and your friends photos in a stylish, easy to use layout.
Facebook Photo Album from Lifelike Apps is a free app that allows you to connect with Facebook to display photos in an album-like design for easy viewing that’s both more convenient than viewing them on Facebook, and better looking.
Opening the app for the first time will prompt you to put in your Facebook details, so the app can connect. When the information is entered, it takes about 30 seconds to load all of the photos into the album.
The default view displays photos from all of your friends, but you can filter the results using the menu at the top. You can choose photos from a few friends, from one friend, or choose to view your own photos in the album-like layout.
Switching pages is as easy as flipping through a book. Approximately four photos are shown per page, and a tap zooms in, while a simple swipe will turn the page to the next four photos in the album. When zoomed in, you can also choose to have all of the photos displayed as a slideshow in full screen mode, which is a great option for displaying photos to a group of people at a meeting or party.
If there’s a photo you don’t like and want to remove from view, tapping the X in the right hand corner will allow you to remove the photo from view or hide all photos by that person.
Photos from anyone can be emailed and saved to the Photo Library on your iPad, so this is a great way to download copies of photos from your friends and family. A time machine feature, accessed by using the scroll bar at the bottom, will allow you to flip through older photos with ease, to remember those funky haircuts and crazy parties from 2007.
If you’re a Facebook user, this app is a really great way to view photos. It’s another step, sure, but it’s so much nicer than looking at photos on the default Facebook website or another Facebook app.
What I liked: This app has a stylish, clean layout that perfectly accents photos. I could see this as a great way to share vacation photos, family photos, and more with a group of people or just one person. It’s easy to navigate, and setting up a fantastic looking slideshow takes only a few taps.
What I didn’t like: This app crashed several times, so a fix for stability is definitely necessary. Crashes are frustrating, because it needs to reload the photos every time you open the app. This app is strictly for viewing photos – no uploading capabilities here, which would be a nice addition to give it more utility.
To buy or not to buy: This app is free to download, so it’s worth taking a look to decide if it’s right for you.
