Epson Launches New iPad Compatible Projectors
We see a lot of iPad accessories here at PadGadget, but Epson’s newly announced line of portable, iPad-compatible projectors are the first projectors we’ve seen with an included iPad, iPhone, and iPod Touch dock.
The new MegaPlex MG-850 HD and the Megaplex MG-50 promise to deliver high quality, high brightness, big screen viewing to homes, offices, and schools everywhere, for use indoors and out.
With these projectors, users can watch movies, create presentations, share photos, and even apps on the big screen using their iPads. This has a wide range of applications for home theater enthusiasts and professionals alike.
Imagine creating an entire presentation with Keynote on the iPad, and sharing it with a meeting or conference using a big screen. Imagine downloading content from iTunes and watching your favorite movies from the iPad, or playing Angry Birds – on the wall. Pretty amazing stuff, especially since a projector combined with a central media hub is potentially the future of home entertainment.
These new projectors could potentially have educational uses as well. Just the other day I was reading a forum post from an iPad enthusiast who also happened to be an Astronomy professor. He was seeking a way to share some of the iPad’s amazing star apps with his classroom, which was no easy task with traditional projectors. There are thousands of great educational apps available on the iPad, and this projector could help teachers everywhere share them in classrooms.
Using the Megaplex Projectors, consumers can share all kinds of multimedia content from their iPads. It’s a simple matter of plugging the iPad (or iPhone/iPod Touch) into the dock, which allows content to be easily shareable with just a click.
Both projectors use 3LCD technology for reliable performance and vibrant colors. The Megaplex HD features 720p high-definition resolution with 2,800 lumens of color, while the regular Megaplex features 540p resolution with 2,200 lumens of color. Both have white light output, which is great for viewing in both light and dark settings.
With two built-in 10W stereo speakers, the projectors deliver amazing sound and can also be used separately as speaker docks. Using microphone input, users will be able to narrate movies, photos, and business slideshows.
The Megaplex MG-850 HD ($799) and the MegaPlex MG-50 ($699) will both be available for purchase in September 2011 in the Epson online store and at select retailers.
