Western Digital Joins The Cloud, New iOS App Allows For Offline Access

Western Digital has just released their new iOS app, WD 2go Pro, that will allow users to access and download files from their My Book Live account through an iPad or iPhone.

If you only have a moment to grab some files, but want to access them on the go, WD 2go Pro will let you clip files for offline viewing at any time.

My Book Live is a service from Western Digital that lets you store files in a personal cloud, instead of a public cloud, without a monthly fee. You just hook up the external hard drive to your wireless router and it will act as a personal cloud, allowing you to access files on it from home computers and iOS-enabled devices.

With WD 2go, you can access almost any file from your personal cloud onto your iPad, including Microsoft Word Documents, Excel Spreadsheets, PowerPoint presentations and more. With the Pro version, for only $2.99, you can download the files to your iPad and show them off later, even if there is no internet access. For example, you can show grandma those pictures of her great-grandchildren, even though she still uses dial-up at home.

My Book Live will set you back anywhere from $150 for a one-terabit storage device, to $250 for a three-terabit device. WD 2go Pro is available for only $2.99 in the App Store.
