Accelerate Your Fun in Race Illegal: High Speed 3D – iPad Game Review

Race illegal: High Speed 3DI’ve played a lot of racing games for the iPad, and some have been very good. None has contained the level of detail or the number of features found in Race Illegal: High Speed 3D.

The game description promised that this would be high-paced fun, and it definitely is.

For those that like to really invest in their cars and hone their skills, career mode will work well for you. I’m more the ‘quick race’ type and found that was fun and easy to get into and do reasonably well at.

The interface is really nice to use as it takes advantage of the iPad as a steering wheel. I was surprised to find it very responsive and had no difficulty controlling my car with it (okay, I had some difficulty but it had nothing to do with the game and rather my skill as a driver). I especially liked that you could accelerate with iPad movement as well.

What I found remarkable was how good the graphics were and how well they displayed on my iPad with absolutely no lag or delay. This was the case even when there were moments with lots of animation like when using nitro during a race. Every screen is dynamic and colorful and interesting to look at.

What I liked: The first race serves as a tutorial and steps you through the interface and gives you tips and tricks for playing the game. This made all the difference.

What I didn’t like: The menu system is a bit hard to follow and interpret. You kind of have to just click around to try things out.

To buy or not to buy: If you like racing games and you want to invest time into a game with a lot of features, this is a good choice.
