GameStop to stock iOS devices, Accepts Your Old Devices for Store Credit

In the coming months, popular video game store chain GameStop is planning on offering iPhones, iPads, and iPods at their stores.

According to 9to5 Mac, GameStop made an announcement to dealers at a trade show in Las Vegas this week, saying that it is working with Apple on a deal to sell various iDevices.

In addition to selling new Apple merchandise, the video game retailer plans to start buying back old iOS devices as well, such as previous generation iPhones, iPads, and iPod Touches and giving store credit in return. There’s no word on how much your old device is worth to GameStop yet.

GameStop already buys used consoles and console games, but its plan to buy back iOS devices is evidence that the company, for the first time, truly sees Apple’s products as serious gaming contenders. Perhaps this will make other major players in the gaming industry sit up and take notice. I’d love to see some Nintendo games in the App Store. Animal Crossing would be perfect for the iOS platform!

There are a few other options to get rid of your old iDevices, such as trading them in to Apple for Store Credit, or other buy-back companies that will give you cash. Will you consider selling your iDevice at GameStop for in-store credit? Would you buy your iPad or iPhone there? New or used? Let us know in the comments.
