Epson to Release Printers with AirPrint Support

Apple’s over the air printing capability, AirPrint, has been criticized for only working with a limited number of printer models, all from Hewlett-Packard. Work arounds are possible, but add an extra expense and hassle.

As of next month, newly released Epson printers will come with AirPrint support, opening up more options for people seeking a printer with AirPrint enabled.

The Epson inkjet printers will allow users to print wirelessly from iPhone 3GS and iPhone 4, both iPads, and the third generation and newer iPod Touches. Not all Epson printers will include AirPrint support, but Epson does plan to add support to additional models this fall.

Ian Cameron, general manager of global communications at Epson had this to say:

“We’re delighted users of Epson’s AirPrint-enabled printers will now be able to print directly from their iOS devices. With AirPrint, no software or setup is required, so documents, photos, and emails can be quickly and easily printed to any AirPrint-enabled Epson printer.”

Keep an eye out for the new printers beginning in Autumn, at Epson retailers near you.
