Turn Your Photos into Awesome Posters with Phoster

Phoster is a creative application that allows you to design stylish posters, invitations, and cards for all kinds of events, from birthday parties and announcements, to garage sales and house parties.
Using one of the many artistically styled templates in the app, you can easily create posters from your photos in just a few steps, and email and share them using your social networks.
When opening the app, the first thing you’ll see are the templates. There are a total of 72, in all different colors and designs, so you’re sure to find something that’s perfect for whatever you have in mind.
Selecting a template will prompt you to choose a photo from your camera roll, or take one if you’re using an iPad 2. The photo will be placed into the layout, sometimes in very creative ways. For example, one template is a series of blank dots, and when you enter the photo, it only shows up in the dots, with white space in between. There are a lot of fun effects to experiment with.
Once your photo and layout are selected, everything is completely customizable. All of the text in the layout can be changed to something else, plus the fonts and colors can be edited. The brightness, contrast, and saturation of your photos can be altered from within the app, which are handy features if you want to remove the color from a photo or do some simple enhancements.
When you’re satisfied with the text, the layout, and the background colors, hitting next will take you to the filter menu, where you can add one of 19 effects to your photo, adding character, texture, and color to the poster.
Your completed posters can be shared using Instagram, email, Facebook, Twitter, Flickr, and Tumblr, or printed. Completed posters can also be opened in other apps for further editing, such as SketchBook, GoodReader, Dropbox, and FilterStorm. An included gallery houses all of your finished poster creations so you can access them at any time, and a favorites option allows you to save your preferred layouts for quick editing.
In just five minutes, you can create great looking party invitations and flyers using your own photos and Phoster’s included layouts and effects. With this app, your friends and family are sure to be impressed with your digital creations and will be asking if you used Photoshop or some other fancy image editing program to create your poster, because that’s how polished Phoster creations can look. Save a few trees and send your next party invitations via email or using a social network with cards and posters created in Phoster.
What I liked: You can create a card for virtually any event using Phoster and your own photos. These can even be used like a scrapbook and printed to hang on your walls, so you’re not limited to just digital uses.
What I didn’t like: On certain layouts, its difficult to select blocks of text for editing. I had trouble multiple times distinguishing between one block of text and another. It would be great if landscape mode was added.
To buy or not to buy: If you’re looking for a creative way to create electronic invitations, posters, and cards, Phoster is a must have app.
