Blow Stuff Up in Your iPad with Demolition Master 3D HD

Take on the role of a bomb expert in Demolition Master 3D HD, traveling to different countries and continents to demolish building after building in new and spectacular ways.

If you like to blow stuff up, or watch stuff being blown up, Demolition Master 3D is a game that you won’t want to miss, with realistic explosions and convincing crashes.

To play, you will set bombs on various structures to get them to detonate and explore in certain ways. Each level has a green area where the debris needs to fall to complete the level, and a red area that must be avoided. Hitting items in golden zones will give you a star.

Bombs are placed by choosing a section of the structure and tapping the type of bomb you want to place. There are four types of bombs, each with different capabilities, and it’s up to you to pick the right one for the job at hand. Structures will be composed of materials like wood and steel, and each bomb will do varying amounts of damage to each substance. For instance, a red bomb will bend steel, but a blue bomb won’t damage it at all.

In addition, destroyed structures must fall below a height threshold that the game provides. It’s displayed as a green grid, which can be viewed with a grid button. Bombs can be placed anywhere on the structure, and the detonation order can also be changed.

As the game progresses, structures get more complex and it takes more experimentation to figure out how to blow them up in the best way. There is an extensive tutorial system in the game that will make sure you know the ins and outs of explosives before the game gets too difficult. If you do get stuck, there’s a hint button that will give you tips on finishing levels.

Each level has a maximum of three stars, and will also award a score. There are multiple achievements and trophies to unlock, plus Game Center and Open Feint leaderboards. Scores can also be shared via Facebook and Twitter.

The main appeal of this game, beyond the fun and excitement of blowing stuff up, is the great graphics. The graphics are fully 3D and well-executed, making explosions and crashes a delight to look at. The game is fully rotatable, with a finger on the screen to view it from every angle, and the explosions seem realistic.

For a game about blowing stuff up, gameplay is surprisingly complex and takes quite a bit of skill to master, so this is a great game for both puzzle lovers and lovers of destruction.

What I liked: The graphics were great, and there’s a lot of different gameplay mechanics at work to make some really complex puzzles with multiple elements to take into account.

What I didn’t like: I wanted to see bigger, more destructive explosions. Despite an extensive tutorial, this isn’t an easy game to master, and may not be suitable for younger players.

To buy or not to buy: At just $1.99, this is a game with excellent graphics, solid gameplay, and 70 levels, making it well worth the cost.
