Mystic T Puzzle is a Chinese-style puzzle game where you rotate and drag four pieces of a picture to finish puzzles and assemble different graphics.
The legend made up for the game is a large part of what makes it interesting: A thousand years ago, in the Far East, there was a monk who wrote about zen on 144 flagstones. As time passed, each stone was divided into four fragments, and when 144 flagstones are put back together, the meaning of zen will become clear.
The game consists of four different bamboo pieces (and later other materials), which are divided in different ways for each picture. To complete the puzzle, you must drag the bamboo pieces into their proper spots. The controls are simple. Pieces are moved with a finger and rotated with a quick tap.
Solving a puzzle with only four pieces sounds easy enough, but it’s surprisingly challenging because the pieces look so similar and appear to fit in multiple ways, but there’s only one workable solution. There are, naturally, 144 different puzzles to solve.
The puzzles are all set on lovely Chinese-style backgrounds, and the graphics are high-quality and detailed. Soothing music accompanies each puzzle, making this a great game to play when you want to wind down and relax after a long day.
What I liked: When I first started solving puzzles, I thought the app would be too easy, as there’s so little variation. But the different shapes made puzzles complex and challenging to solve.
What I didn’t like: There’s no variation in gameplay. I would have liked for the puzzles to eventually have more than four pieces, as playing gets monotonous after awhile. Even after I muted the sound, it continued to play.
To buy or not to buy: This app is free, and definitely worth the minute or two that it takes to download and open up. If you’re looking for a relaxing puzzle game, give Mystic T Puzzle a try.
