Play Mix and Match the Animals in Safari Party – iPad Game Review
There are two types of people in this world: those who have been addicted to Bejeweled and those that will be. No matter where you currently fall, Safari Party is all kinds of fun and immensely addictive.
It’s true that I’m a sucker for a puzzle game, but what’s not to like? They are easy to learn and quick to play, and even though you can compete against other people for highest score… the real competition is with yourself. You want (need) to beat your highest score!
With Safari Party, you are looking for combos. You want to bring a minimum of 4 of the same animals together, by swapping spaces with those adjacent to the animal you want to move. This may sound easy, but add a few twists to the mix –like some of the animal heads will actually morph (rather quickly) to new animals, making it much harder to use them in your patterns.
With a variety of game modes and skill levels to choose from, you can mix this game up quite a bit to keep from getting bored. The way you progress through the game is to reach the target number of matches for each level, moving up in difficulty. Arcade mode is the most common way to play, with a timer for the entire level that regains time as you make matches. The better you play, the longer you have. My favorite mode was Speed. This gives you 5 seconds to find the next match –you snooze, you lose!
I should also note that if you think finding matches will be really easy, think again. From level to level, the critter pictures change so you aren’t just looking for the same old animal time and again. And on top of that, there are really busy backgrounds behind the pictures making it a little more difficult to just skim the screen. This is a nice touch, making an otherwise simple game a little more complex.

What I liked: This is a game for all ages, and there aren’t enough of those! Your children will have as much fun as you do playing this game.
What I didn’t like: I am struggling to find something about this game I didn’t like. Aside from the fact that it didn’t come with any eye-drops to help me rehydrate my contacts from playing it so long without blinking, I think this game really accomplishes what it sets out to do. I suppose the instructions could give a little more information about the game itself and how you unlock modes and what the bonuses are, but that is really pretty minor.
To buy or not to buy: This is a great little game! Even though it is simple and straightforward, I keep going back to it and playing ‘just one more round’. That alone makes this worth the $0.99 pricetag.
