Tinychat FB Lets You Video Chat with Facebook Friends On iPad

Tinychat FBAll indications have us expecting integrated video chat on Facebook sooner than later, but so far it isn’t a reality. Tinychat FB offers the ability to video and text chat with your Facebook friends.

To say that this app is very simple would be an understatement. Once you connect your Facebook account with Tinychat FB, you are greeted with a list of your online friends that are currently available for chatting.

There are two ways to initiate a chat. From the main screen of the app, there is a button to ‘Start Video Chat’, which allows you to click on the names of your friends until you have up to 12 people participating. If you prefer, clicking on a single friend’s name on the list will also allow you to chat or start video with them directly.

Once a chat has been initiated, you are the ‘room moderator’ and can invite others or kick others from the room.

This really is the most simple and straightforward app out there. It is incredibly single purpose, but it appears to serve that purpose well.

What I liked: It is a nice touch that you can chat with up to 12 people at once, making it more like a party!

What I didn’t like: It feels a bit like this app needs to have more meat to it. There are no instructions whatsoever, so you are left with having to assume how things will work.

To buy or not to buy: The app is free, so there is no harm in giving it a try. It is one of those apps that is nice to have on hand in case the desire or need ever pops up.

Have you actually tried to video chat with 12 people at once? It actually doesn’t really work. But whatever, it makes a nice headline. I tried it on my iPad but the truth is I’m always in public when I’ve got my iPad out, and it doesn’t really work to video chat in a cafe (way too much background noise, unstable connection). For now I’ll stick to Facebook Video Chat Rounds I think (not to mention, I’m addicted to those games…).
